The 6″–8″ (150mm–200mm) Blockage Removal Kit is a powerful drain cleaning system designed to remove hard obstructions such as tree roots, cement, tile grout, stones, and failed liners. It is not a replacement for a high-pressure water jet but is ideal for mechanical grinding and breaking of tough blockages in large pipes.
This blockage removal kit will not replace your high-pressure water jet for the removal of sand deposits, but if you need to grind up tree roots or remove cement, tile grout, stones, and other hard blockages in large pipes, then this tool will be a game changer.
Depending on your selection, the kit is suitable for PVC or metal/ceramic pipes (or both PVC and metal/ceramic pipes). Please note that the kit for metal pipes has very aggressive metal alloy tips fused to the cutting edge. It is suited for pipes made from cement, ceramic, cast iron, metal, and similar hard materials. The kit for PVC does not have hard metal tips and is not as aggressive as the one for metal and ceramic pipes. This helps prevent damage to the PVC pipe wall.
This kit comes only with a 12mm (1/2″) shaft. Anything thinner will struggle to deliver the required torque to the chains over longer distances. You will need a more powerful drill than for the smaller diameter kits, so please get in touch with us if you need a recommendation.
The X-tip chains that come with this kit (for metal/ceramic pipes) are our most aggressive chains. They feature a crown drill head with a 25mm (1”) opening diameter, designed for cutting in a forward direction. They have X-shaped “teeth” that rasp away whatever they come into contact with.
If you are in the pipe rehabilitation trade, you will be familiar with the challenges of extracting a failed liner. This kit will grind up a failed liner faster than chemical softeners, and you can mount a sewer camera behind the chains to see what you are doing in real time. We recommend complementing these tools with our Croco Mole for reinstatement tasks.

Important: Using an imperial Allen key may strip the set screws. We recommend using a metric Allen key instead.

Do not use the shaft inside the carrier.
When operating, your shaft should be unwound to at least a 1m (3ft) diameter, which is the natural coil size where friction and heat buildup are minimized. Otherwise, friction and heat buildup between the shaft and the sleeve will significantly reduce the shaft's performance and lifespan.
