1.5″ – 2″ (38mm – 50mm) drain descaling and blockage removal kit includes a highly flexible 6mm (1/4″) shaft suitable for tight bends and blockages in toilet and bath waste pipes.

Description

This kit is designed for blockage removal and descaling of 1.5″ (38mm) and 2″ (50mm) pipes.

It uses only a 1/4″ (6mm) flexible shaft, as its bending radius matches the radius required for navigating a 90-degree bend in a 2″ pipe. This allows effective cleaning of shower waste pipes, basin waste pipes, and other small pipe systems with multiple bends and junctions. It is our most flexible shaft, while still maintaining rigidity to prevent coiling inside larger pipes over longer distances.

Please note that we don’t recommend using our tools in pipes smaller than 1.5″ (38mm).

The shaft sleeve is equipped with friction rings to protect the ends from wear. These rings also prevent dirt from building up between the shaft and sleeve, reducing friction and improving tool efficiency and lifespan.

Chains can be selected for:

  • PVC pipes
  • Metal and ceramic pipes
  • Or both

Chains for metal and ceramic pipes are fitted with tungsten carbide cutting edges, while PVC chains do not include hard cutting tips. All chains are made from stainless steel to prevent oxidation and are secured to the shaft using hex set screws, allowing minor adjustment for pipe size variations.

We recommend adding a Mini Mole to this setup, as it has proven highly efficient for removing blockages in narrow pipes.

The kit is lightweight and compact, making it easy to transport and set up in seconds. Simply attach it to your drill and start working.

  • Shaft diameter: 6mm (1/4")
  • Pipe range: 38mm - 50mm (1.5" - 2")

The kit includes:

  • 6mm (1/4") Flexible Shaft with Sleeve, Friction Rings, Shaft Lock and a Spring
  • A drill to shaft adapter to connect the flexible shaft to your power drill
  • Mini chain for a 50mm (2") pipe (with tungsten carbide bits if you choose the metal/ceramic pipes option)
  • Lightweight Plain Chain (NO Drill head) 32mm/1.3" (1 chain in assembly) - with tungsten carbide bits if you choose the metal/ceramic pipes option
  • Lightweight Plain Chain (NO Drill head) 50mm/2" (2 chains in assembly) - with tungsten carbide bits if you choose the metal/ceramic pipes option
  • Shaft carrier (if selected)

Please note that the flexible shaft carrier will hold a maximum of 30m (98ft) of the 6mm (¼”) shaft.

Important: Using an imperial Allen key may strip the set screws. We recommend using a metric Allen key instead.

A screw set with metric Allen keys can be found here.

  • Drain cleaning in 1.5" - 2" (38mm-50mm) pipes
  • Blockage removal in shower and basin waste lines
  • Descaling of urine scale and soft deposits
  • Cleaning of grease trap inlet/outlet pipes
  • Boiler cleaning

  • Lubricate the shaft thoroughly as shown here.
  • Select the correct chain type for PVC or metal/ceramic pipes.
  • Connect the shaft to a drill using a drill-to-shaft adapter and set the torque limiter as shown here.
  • Insert the system into the pipe via an access point.
  • Rotate the shaft to engage the chain cutting action.
  • Remove debris and repeat if necessary until the pipe is cleared.

We recommend using lightweight chains with this shaft. Additionally, if possible, try keeping the shaft length below 10m–15m (32.8ft–49.2ft) for optimal performance.

Always lubricate your shaft before first use.
Please follow this link to learn more about why lubrication is important and how to lubricate your flexible shaft.

Do not use the shaft inside the carrier.

When operating, your shaft should be unwound to at least a 1m (3ft) diameter, which is the natural coil size where friction and heat buildup are minimized. Otherwise, friction and heat buildup between the shaft and the sleeve will significantly reduce the shaft's performance and lifespan.
