The Shovel Mole is a heavy-duty blockage removal tool fitted with tungsten carbide bits for aggressive cutting and displacement of obstructions. Designed for flexible shaft systems, it delivers powerful forward and reverse cutting action for efficient pipe cleaning.

Description

The Shovel Mole features the same high-quality tungsten carbide bits used in our Root Removal Tool, mounted on a mole-style frame for enhanced cutting performance.

We designed this tool around our new wave-shaped carbide bits, which provide a highly aggressive rasping action. Compared to traditional Croco-style or X-tip designs, the wave geometry significantly improves forward-thrust cutting, allowing the tool to behave like a shovel that cuts into and displaces blockages rather than simply grinding them away.

An additional set of rear-mounted blades gives the Shovel Mole a dual-action capability. This allows cutting both while pushing through a blockage and again while pulling back after passing it, increasing overall cleaning efficiency.

The blades are positioned away from the tool’s sides, making it safe for use in PVC. However, please take care when using the tool in a 90-degree bend within a PVC pipe. While the front cutting edge is angled to reduce abrasion in tight bends, the blades are highly aggressive, so avoid prolonged rotation in one spot to prevent damage.

  • Crafted from durable stainless steel, this tool connects securely to a flexible shaft using set screws.
  • This tool is fitted with tungsten carbide wave-shaped bits for aggressive cutting and displacement of obstructions.

Sizes:

  • Shaft Diameter: 12mm (1/2″)

Important: Using an imperial Allen key may strip the set screws. We recommend using a metric Allen key instead.

A screw set with metric Allen keys can be found here.

Applications:

  • Blockage removal
  • Heavy-duty pipe cleaning

This tool is designed for use with our heavy-duty 12mm (1/2") shaft. Due to its weight, it is not suitable for lighter shafts such as 6mm (1/4") or 8mm (5/16").

Based on customer feedback, compatibility with 10mm (3/8") shafts may be considered in future versions.
