Alternative K9 102 Flexible Shaft

AU$258.64

The Alternative K9 102 flexible shaft is designed for pipes with tight bends and multiple junctions. It is suitable for light blockages and descaling in smaller pipes.

Description

The Alternative K9 102 Flexible Shaft Set includes a flexible shaft, a protective sleeve, and a pre-crimped alternative k9 102 adapter, compatible with K9 102 sewer cleaning machines which were purchased before 2025.

This shaft is ideal for navigating tight bends, passing through toilet bowls, or working through multiple junctions in close proximity.

When using this shaft, it is recommended to use lightweight chains, as the shaft is not suitable for heavy-duty equipment.

Important note: This is not an original RIDGID FlexShaft, and we do not supply replacement cables for the RIDGID K9 102 drain cleaning machine.

We began offering this shaft after noticing that many tradesmen were adapting our shafts for use with their RIDGID K9 102 machines. They reported that our flexible shafts are more rigid than the RIDGID shaft. The benefit of a more rigid shaft is that it helps prevent the shaft from coiling inside the pipe when subjected to higher torque, making cleaning and blockage removal easier.

If you purchase this shaft, we recommend buying a few extra adapters. A common failure point is where the shaft bends sharply near the power source. This area experiences increased heat and stress due to the tightly wound coil. Having extra adapters allows you to quickly cut the shaft with an angle grinder and crimp on a new adapter, reducing downtime.

There is no need to weld or solder the end of the shaft before crimping a new adapter. A properly designed shaft should not require welding.

We also recommend purchasing a crimping tool. These are inexpensive and available at most hardware stores or online. When you need to replace an adapter, it would be more convenient to have a crimping tool available.

The 1/4″ (6mm) shaft is the thinnest option in our range. While it may not generate enough torque to power heavy-duty chains capable of cutting through thicker root intrusions or solid blockages in a 4″ (100mm) pipe, it is suitable for removing softer blockages or descaling 2″ (50mm) pipes.

We recommend using this shaft in pipes up to a maximum diameter of 3″ (75mm).

The shaft’s bending radius should always be less than a 90-degree bend in the pipe being cleaned. This 1/4″ (6mm) shaft is therefore not recommended for use in 1″ (25mm) pipes, as the bending radius is more suited to pipes starting from 1.5″ (38mm).

  • Length: 49.2 ft (15 meters)
  • Diameter: 1/4" (6mm)
  • Adapter: pre-crimped alternative K9 102 adapter

Applications

  • Drain cleaning
  • Soft blockage removal
  • Light descaling
  • Tight bend pipe cleaning
  • Toilet and multi-junction pipework

We recommend using lightweight chains with this shaft, as it is not suitable for heavy-duty equipment.
